Quick answer: LinkedIn is now the number one place B2B video gets watched. To do well there: keep videos under 90 seconds, use a vertical or square frame, add captions because most people watch on mute, put the point in the first 3 seconds, and post from a real person’s account, not only the company page.
Why LinkedIn, and why now?
Wistia’s 2026 State of Video report found 81 percent of businesses now call LinkedIn their main video channel, ahead of YouTube at 76 percent. That is up 33 points in two years (source). For SaaS, the buyers are already there, and the feed rewards short native video over links.
What format works on LinkedIn?
- Shape: vertical (9:16) or 4:5. It fills more of the phone screen than 16:9.
- Length: under 90 seconds. Under 60 is safer for a first post.
- Captions: about 80 percent of LinkedIn videos are watched with the sound off. Burn the captions into the video so they always show.
- Hook: say or show the point in the first 3 seconds. No logo intro.
- Upload natively. Do not paste a YouTube link. Native video gets more reach.
Should the founder post, or the company page?
Both, but the founder matters more. Company pages reach about 1.6 percent of followers per post, while posts from personal accounts get around 8 times the engagement (source). A 45-second clip of the founder explaining one idea, with a clean animated cut of the product under it, is the highest-value post most SaaS teams can make. We cover the style in founder-led video for SaaS.
What should the videos be about?
Not “we are excited to announce”. Try these instead:
- One problem your buyers have, and how you look at it.
- One feature, shown on screen, in 30 seconds.
- A customer result with the real number.
- A mistake you see teams make, and the fix.
- A short cut of your explainer video with a new caption on top.
How do I get LinkedIn clips from one video?
Ask your studio for vertical and square versions when you order the main explainer. Seventy-six percent of teams now resize video for each platform, and it is cheap when it is planned up front. Our one-production system includes every ratio and three to five short cuts as standard.
Quick questions
How often should a SaaS company post video on LinkedIn?
Once or twice a week is plenty. Consistency beats volume.
Do animated videos work on LinkedIn, or only faces?
Both work. Faces build trust; animation explains the product clearly. The best posts mix a person on camera with animated product screens.
Should I add a link in the post?
Put it in the first comment or later in the text. Posts with links in the body often get less reach.
